Updated according to 2024 Update of Erasmus+ Programme valid from 1/6/2024.
Internal applications will be opened again at the beginning of the new academic year (Deadline for submission of internal applications: 31.1.2025)
MEASURES VALID UNTIL REPEAL:
With the general increase in applications for Erasmus internships and the effort to accommodate fairly maximum number of student requests, we are forced to take the following measures related to the funding of internships:
Students can go on internships despite these measures, but only as so-called zero-grant participants, i.e. without EU financial contribution.
Within the Erasmus+ program in the 2021-2027 program period, it is possible to complete a study exchange, practical traineeship (both 2-12 months), short-term mobilities (5-30 days) and blended intensive programs created in cooperation with several higher education organizations. Mobility for recent graduates is a completely separate special category.
As part of international cooperation, FAMU has already signed more than 50 agreements with partner schools within the Erasmus+ program and other bilateral agreements with partner schools, especially from non-European countries.
As part of the expansion of the scope of the Erasmus+ program, it is possible to complete an exchange outside the EU. However, the capacities for financing such mobility are limited by the allocated budget for the given academic year, so be prepared that the exchange may be refused even if you have been successfully accepted. When choosing schools, we therefore strongly advise against choosing more than one institution outside the EU.
Mobility cannot be carried out in the country where the sending university is located (i.e. within the Czech Republic), nor with EU institutions and other EU entities, including specialized organizations that manage EU programs.
On this page you will find basic information about the conditions of the Erasmus+ program for students, information about the amount of the financial contribution and other forms of support. For specific information regarding the type of internship you are interested in, please visit the relevant sub-page.
The Erasmus+ program at FAMU is governed by Rector's Proceeding No. 03/2024 on the institutional provision of the Erasmus+ program at AMU and the recognition of studies within the framework of foreign student mobility.
The House of Foreign Cooperation has restored the source of students' experiences from their study stays and practical internships and has made available a database of Erasmus students' final reports.
The participant must be a full-time student – it is possible to travel as part of a waiting for leaving exam period, individual study plan, however not as part of interrupted studies. At the same time, we try to accommodate the maximum number of requests, so priority is given to master's degree students, final year students and those who have not yet been on a long-term Erasmus+ exchange.
Each participant has a maximum of 12 months in each cycle of higher education (BA, MA, PhD). A student can thus complete one long stay or several shorter ones (but it is necessary to observe the minimum prescribed length of stay). It is important to keep in mind that all study, practical and short-term internships are added together for a given degree. This also applies to all previous studies in the given study cycle.
Due to the large increase in applications and in an effort to accommodate the maximum number of students, we are forced to take the following faculty measures in the funding of internships:
A student must obtain at least 18 credits per semester during long-term study mobility at a foreign institution.
In the case of traineeships, there is no credit obligation, the student can have the internship recognized as the equivalent of a mandatory work placement if his study program includes it, or as optional credits. The internship can also be enrolled as an addendum to the diploma without credit assessment.
The EU defines the basic rules for determining the amount of financial contributions. The contribution is understood as financing covering the increased living costs abroad, it is not a scholarship covering all the costs of a stay abroad and the financial participation of the student is assumed. The amount of the monthly allowance is fixed – countries are divided into groups depending on the cost of living (higher, lower), the range in which the amount of the allowance allocated for a stay in a particular country will vary depends on the relationship between the sending and receiving countries (whether it is mobility between countries with comparable living costs or not).
Based on the conclusion of the participation contract, the student receives a contribution that is the same for all students leaving the Czech Republic for a study stay or a practical internship within the Erasmus+ program.
Study exchange and traineeship (2-12 months) – the allowance includes accommodation costs only:
The financial contribution can be further increased through INCLUSION support. If you are interested in the possibilities of the inclusion, contact the relevant coordinator.
From 1.1.2024, the Erasmus financial contribution is paid only in EUR. Students are required to open an account in this currency.
Most mobilities take place in countries where English is not spoken. Similarly, teaching may take place in the local language, and partner institutions often require proof of language skills from students. The European Commission has made the EU Academy tool available to students, which is intended (and not only) to improve the language skills of mobility participants. Those interested in more in-depth use of this program can contact the rectorate coordinator Martina Zárubová (martina.zarubova@amu.cz).
The Language Preparation Center of AMU organizes an optional English language test (B2) for those interested, especially for students going on a study/work stay as part of the Erasmus+ program.
Recently, the number of students canceling their planned Erasmus internships just before departure has also been increasing. They are often worried about an unfamiliar environment or cultural differences, or because they are unsure about financial planning. Erasmus coordinators from CTU, UPOL and Vilnius Tech created the COSTABEX portal with the aim "to provide support to students going abroad and to ensure that student mobility is as positive and beneficial as possible, to further raise awareness of the need to work with mental health and to discuss possible psychological problems of outgoing students". On the Costabex website, presentations, videos and other training materials are available (for free use) focused on e.g. preparation for mobility, managing personal finances (not only) during a stay abroad, intercultural communication/culture shock, working with stress, mental health, crisis communication etc.
