CALL: PARTICIPATION IN THE CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

DEAR STUDENTS IN ACCREDITED PROGRAMMES,

With support from the French Institute in Prague, FAMU is continuing its collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. The Cannes Film Festival will take place from 14 to 25 May 2024. FAMU will participate from 17 to 23 May 2024.

  • A panel involving the Dean, Vice-Dean for International Affairs, Head of the Registrar’s Office, and Head of FAMU Studio will choose five students to represent our school at the festival.
  • All selected students will receive support under Erasmus+ for a short-term mobility in the amount of € 553 to cover the costs of their stay (meals, travel in Cannes, and travel to and from Cannes).
  • The Faculty will provide accommodations for five persons in a shared apartment in Cannes. Therefore, be prepared for shared accommodation.
  • The students will receive special accreditation from the Cannes Film Festival that will allow them to access screenings in the Cannes Classics, Un Certain regard, Special Screenings, and Séances du lendemain festival sections (the latest section mentioned features films from the In Competition sections and films featured outside the competition that are shown one day after the official premiere). Students will have access to the film market and its activities intended for professionals and open to the general public.
  • For this year, the festival has not confirmed organising any special programme for schools. This is why Vice-Dean Marta Švecová Lamperová will be available to FAMU students in Cannes to offer basic navigation in the festival programme – you will meet her on 19 May at 10 am (for 90 minutes). The Vice-Dean will contact the participants in advance.
  • The festival has offered us more accreditations than the number of students we can support. Hence, five additional accreditations will be available without financial support. Should you be interested in this option, please note this in the form (below). These accreditations will be offered to those candidates who are not selected among the first five.

What do you need to do to take part in the selection procedure?

  • Complete the form under the link at https://forms.office.com/e/uCyXiCDZJp by 15 February 2024.
  • The forms are accessible from your school e-mail addresses.
  • This call is open to students in accredited programmes and is also intended for those waiting exams.
  • The call is not intended for Erasmus+ students and students of non-accredited programmes.
  • The list of the students selected will be posted on FAMU’s website by 1 March 2024.
  • The students will then be invited to a coordination meeting.

For any questions, do not hesitate to contact Andrea Petrovičová, andrea.petrovicova@famu.cz
