From May 2nd to May 9th, 2024 a mentoring programme took place featuring Mark Ulano and Patrushkha Mierzwa concentrated on the work of boom operators and sound designers and present an excellent opportunity to learn about Hollywood practices in the field of film sound. Their joint teaching is in demand at film schools worldwide.
Mark Ulano is a renowned production sound mixer, having worked on films such as "Killers of the Flower Moon" (Martin Scorsese, 2023), "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (Quentin Tarantino, 2019), and "Kill Bill" (Quentin Tarantino, 2003), and has received numerous prestigious awards, including an Oscar for sound in the film "Titanic" (James Cameron, 1997).
A boom operator Patrushkha Mierzwa is a pioneer of the sound assistant profession, having published two books on the subject: Beneath the Boom Pole: The Art & Science of Boom Operating for Movies & TV (All Art is Technical: Sound for Motion Pictures and Television) and Behind the Sound Cart: A Veteran's Guide to Sound on the Set (All Art is Technical: Sound for Motion Pictures and Television).
