Mentoring Programme

From 21 to 23 April 2026, a mentoring programme took place at FAMU with French-Bosnian film director and screenwriter Lucile Hadžihalilović.

Lucile Hadžihalilović is considered one of the most original voices in contemporary European cinema. Her visually captivating films are characterized by a distinctive ability to construct an autonomous cinematic universe and by a precise rendering of a dreamlike, often unsettling atmosphere. Her work (including Innocence, Earwig, and her most recent film La Tour de Glace) explores themes of isolation, coming of age, and bodily transformation, frequently told through the perspective of child protagonists. Her films have regularly received nominations and awards at festivals in Berlin, Toronto, Cannes, and San Sebastián. Together with director Gaspar Noé, she co-founded the production company Les Cinémas de la Zone in 1991, which is associated with films such as Irreversible, Love, Climax, and Enter the Void.

The mentoring program was divided into two parts. On April 21, 2026, a screening of Innocence (2004, 115 min.) took place at Kino 35, followed by a masterclass with Lucile Hadžihalilović titled “Film Space as a Topography of Emotionality,” moderated by Eliška Lubojatzká. Individual consultations with students followed on April 22–23, 2026.

The program was held with the support of the French Institute in Prague.
