The Department of Animated Film welcomed British film director Joanna Quinn, a globally renowned animation author, as part of the mentoring programme in late May. Quinn’s unique visions, drawing skills, elaborate character architecture and humour have earned her four BAFTA nominations, three EMMY nominations and two Academy Award nominations. The remarkable author has made films such as Affairs of the Art (2021), Britannia (1993) and Girls Night Out (1987). Joanna Quinn worked at FAMU from May 23 to May 25, 2023. A part of the programme – film screening and a lecture – was open to the entire Faculty. Her masterclass focused on drawing and animation principles and was intended for the students of the Department of Animated Film.
