Mentoring Programme

The mentoring program with Clemens von Wedemeyer took place on February 25–26, 2026, at the Department of Photography of FAMU. The German artist and filmmaker, whose work operates at the intersection of film, video installation, and exhibition formats, accepted an invitation from Associate Professor Hynek Alt, MgA., Ph.D.

The program opened with a lecture held on February 25 as part of the FAMU Guest Lecture Series. The following day was dedicated to individual portfolio consultations with students of the Department of Photography, offering them the opportunity to present their ongoing and completed projects and receive feedback on their creative and research approaches.

Clemens von Wedemeyer is a German artist and filmmaker whose work operates at the intersection of film, video installation, and exhibition formats. His practice explores structures of power, collective memory, and the relationships between image, space, and narrative. Von Wedemeyer employs cinematic techniques and experimental media to reconstruct, layer, and question both historical and contemporary events. He is particularly interested in the role of the image as a means of manipulation, documentation, and mediated experience. The works of Clemens von Wedemeyer have been presented, among others, at MoMA PS1, New York; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; ZKM, Karlsruhe; Kunsthalle Hamburg; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Moscow Biennale; Skulptur Projekte Münster; dOCUMENTA (13); Experimenta Bangalore; the Rome Film Festival; Bergen Assembly, and others. He currently serves as a professor at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig.
