From April 3 to April 5, 2023, we were delighted to welcome the exceptional French experimental filmmaker Bertrand Mandico, known for his provocative and innovative films such as "After Blue (The Damned Paradise)," "Wild Boys," and "Ultra pulpe." This exclusive program was prepared in collaboration with the French Institute and Ponrepo cinema. As part of the mentoring that Mandico led, students could draw inspiration from his creative approach and gain valuable advice on filmmaking. Moreover, they had a unique opportunity to meet Bertrand Mandico in person and discuss artistic topics with him.
Bertrand Mandico became famous for his visually stunning films full of poetic surrealism and androgynous motifs. His works are often categorized as queer cinema. In addition to winning numerous awards and nominations for his film work, Bertrand Mandico also studied painting and fine arts. His work is characterized by original processing and the exploration of new paths in the field of audiovisual art.
Overall, it can be said that Bertrand Mandico's visit was a great opportunity for all film enthusiasts who want to expand their knowledge in the field of experimental film and gain inspiration from one of the most talented directors of our time.
