Mentoring Programme

At Mentoring from November 13 to 15, 2025, VFX Editor Andrea Pugner presented a case study of her recent Oscar-winning collaboration on the film All Quiet on the Western Front (2022). In addition to a film screening and a case study focused on the specifics of this profession, the mentoring program offered students of the Department of Editing a more detailed look behind the scenes of the project. For those interested, the topic was explored in depth, with Andrea Pugner preparing samples directly from the archived project, where she described the workflow and logic of this specialization in more detail.

Andrea Pugner is a graduate of the Department of Editing at FAMU (2001) and has been living and working in Berlin for the past twenty years. Among other collaborations, she collaborated on the visual effects for Tom Tykwer's film The International (2009).

In the Czech context, she worked at the beginning of her career as an assistant editor to Hervé de Luze on Roman Polanski's Oliver Twist (2005) and participated in other international co-productions at Studio Barrandov. She put her excellent knowledge of both Czech and German cultural contexts to creative use during the editing of the documentary To Make a Comedy Is No Fun: Jiri Menzel, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2018.

She works as an artistic editor and has gradually specialized in the preparation and supervision of materials for visual effects in films produced by companies such as Disney+, Paramount+, ZDF, Netflix, and others.
