CALL FOR PROJECTS: AMU Student Grant Competition AMU (SGC) 2026 – second round

The Film and TV School of AMU in Prague (“FAMU”) is making a call for the second round of the Student Grant Competition (SGC) for the year 2026, the objective of which is the support of student and student/teacher research projects implemented at AMU’s Faculties as part of specific university research.

SCHEDULE OF THE SECOND ROUND OF THE COMPETITION

  • Call for the second round: 26 January 2026
  • Consultation hours for SGC applicants:
    30 January 2026 (10–11 am)
    4 February 2026 (10–11 am)
    9 February 2026 (10–11 am)
  • Submission of project applications: by Friday 13 February 2026
  • Decisions of Faculty grant committees and publication of results: by Friday 25 February 2026 (including the preliminary distribution of funds; the final distribution will be announced once the Ministry of Education funding for specific university research has been allocated).

Basic terms and conditions of the grant competition for 2026

  • The support is intended for one-year projects implemented at AMU Faculties between 1 January 2026 and 31 January 2026.
  • The maximum amount of support per project is CZK 200,000 (including overhead costs).

Applicants may be:

  • Academic workers of FAMU (typically with master’s students’ research projects), or
  • Students in FAMU’s doctoral programmes

Research teams may include:

  • Students in doctoral or master’s programmes at FAMU,
  • Academic, science, and research workers of FAMU. Students in bachelor’s programmes cannot be involved in the projects as co-researchers. The number of students involved must be equal to or higher than the number of academic and science/research workers involved in the project.
  • Project applications are to be submitted exclusively in electronic form using the defined form, sent from school e-mail addresses at AMU to sgs@famu.cz before or on the defined date.   • The project output should preferably satisfy the requirements for inclusion in the Register of Information on Results (RIV) under the current Methodology for the Evaluation of Research Organisations’ Results.

The output can take the form of a technical article, workshop, conference etc.; typically, it is also a part of a dissertation or diploma thesis.

  • Within the project budget, it is possible to apply for funding for:
    - personnel costs (e.g. compensation for the leading teacher),
    - scholarships for the students involved,
    - travel expenses,
    - material,
    - acquisition of tangible and intangible assets,
    - services.
  • It is possible to apply for funding to cover publication costs only subject to documenting the rate of progress of the publication’s manuscript. It is possible to apply with a project whose only output is the creation of a book manuscript; it is then possible to apply for funding for the publication during the next edition of the competition or once the manuscript has been approved by the editorial panel of NAMU where the funds would be provided by the publisher.
  • We strongly recommend that you discuss your application in a sufficient advance: with Vice-Dean for Science and Research Jakub Korda – jakub.korda@famu.cz – in terms of content and methodology, o with grant administrator Karolína Liberová – karolina.liberova@famu.cz – in terms of budget.
  • Applications showing formal deficiencies will not be included in the competition.
