FAMU STUDENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE 2026

Call for concepts

The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) is making a call for the submission of concepts for organising a student research conference as part of supporting student research activities.

The call is active from 23 January to 23 February 2026 and applies to the concepts for one- or two-day student research conferences to be held from March to November 2026.

The objective of the call is to create space for sharing technical knowledge, research approaches and experience in audiovisual studies and related disciplines, thus encouraging the students’ independent research activities. The topic of the events may but does not have to be related to the preparation of bachelor’s, diploma and/or dissertation theses. Through the conferences, their organisers can expand the Faculty’s educational activity and stimulate expert debate on selected topics.

For the purposes of this call, the student research conference is an event featuring a minimum of five different presentations, with the majority of authors being FAMU students. The programme may also include lectures by invited speakers, panel discussions and other formats involving academic and expert guests from both within and outside FAMU. The conference may take the presence form (e.g. on FAMU premises) or be held online.

Applicants may be FAMU students and/or FAMU academics and researchers. The conference team may also include students, teachers, and/or researchers at FAMU as well as external experts. The maximum amount of financial support to apply for is CZK 100,000.

The FAMU Grant Committee will select one to two winning concepts from among the applications received. The Committee reserves the right to reduce the suggested budget if it finds any of its items inadequate. The Grant Committee will decide on the allocation of financial support on a conditional basis by 15 March 2026. The final amount of the grant will be notified after the approval of FAMU’s budget for 2026 by the Ministry of Education. The successful applicant(s) will furthermore be provided by organisational support on an ongoing basis.
