FAMU STUDENT cONFERENCE 2025 - CALL FOR CONCEPTS

The call for concepts for organising a one- or two-day student conference to be held between March and November 2025 is open from 6 January to 15 February 2025. The purpose of the call is to enable students to share professional experience and knowledge in various fields of research into audiovisual media and develop their independent research activities (which may or may not be connected with the preparation for their theoretical bachelor’s and diploma theses and dissertation theses). The organisers – students and/or academic and research personnel – can use the conference to expand the range of the Faculty’s educational activities and foster collective thinking on topics based on their own choice.

This call understands the student conference as an undertaking that involves a minimum of five different presentations, the authors of the majority of which must be FAMU students. However, it is also possible to present at the conference lectures by invited speakers and discussions in the presence of academics and experts from both within and outside of F/AMU. The conference may take place in the presence form (e.g. on FAMU premises) or online.

Students and/or academic and research employees of FAMU may submit applications. Project team members may include students, FAMU teachers, FAMU researchers and/or external experts. The limit for the requested grants is CZK 100,000.

FAMU’s Grant Committee will select one to two winning concepts from the applications received. The Committee has the right to support a project with a grant in an amount reduced as opposed to the application if it finds the budget inadequate in specific items. The Grant Committee will make a decision on granting financial support on a conditional basis within February; the final amount to be allocated will be notified to the winner once the Ministry of Education has confirmed F/AMU’s budget for 2025. The successful applicant will be provided with organisational assistance on an ongoing basis.

Should you have any questions regarding the content, please contact Vice-Dean for Science and Research Jakub Korda, jakub.korda@famu.cz, and for financial questions, please contact grant administrator Karolína Liberovoá, karolina.liberova@famu.cz. Completed forms (see below) should be submitted to Karolína Liberová by 15 February 2025.

Schedule:

  • Submission of applications using the attached form: 6 January to 15 February 2025
  • Decision of FAMU’s Grant Committee on conditional grant allocation: by 15 March 2024 (the final amount allocated depends on the final version of F/AMU budget)
