SUMMER RESIDENCY IN TORONTO - THIRDSPACE: EMERGING ARTIST SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAM

THIRDSPACE: Emerging Artist Summer Intensive Program at OCAD University is a hands-on, interdisciplinary residency designed for emerging artists looking to expand their practice, experiment with new techniques, and develop a new body of work under the mentorship of acclaimed artist Van Maltese. We welcome applicants from diverse artistic backgrounds who are eager to engage in an immersive, collaborative experience.

Why Apply?

Under the mentorship of acclaimed artist Van Maltese, participants will:

  • Develop and refine new work in open and specialized studios
  • Experiment with new techniques in hands-on workshops
  • Engage with a Visual Course Reader—part resource, part collaborative artwork
  • Join reading discussions, guest talks & field trips
  • Exhibit their work in a final showcase

Residency Theme: "Hypothesizing How We See"

How do our perceptions shape our experiences? This residency invites artists of all disciplines to explore this question through play, experimentation, and collaboration.

  • Recent graduates
  • Emerging artists seeking to refine or expand their practice

Program Dates: June 2 – June 27, 2025 (recommended arrival June 1, departure June 29)
Location: OCAD University, Toronto
Program Fee: $4,600 CAD + tax (accommodation option available)
Application Deadline: May 13, 2025 (rolling applications—apply early!)
