NEW ONLINE DATABASES IN THE LIBRARY

The FAMU Library would like to draw your attention to two newly purchased databases:

1. Entertainment Industry Magazine Archive includes popular and trade magazines from the US and UK that deal with film and television production, published between 1905 and 2000. These are key periodicals for the study of the history of the film and entertainment industry in the 20th century and can be a source of information on the economics of the entertainment industry, production, marketing and reception of audiovisual works.

2. Ethnographic Video Online creates a space for the presentation of documentary films that open up themes in socio-cultural anthropology and folklore studies. FAMU has purchased a collection of mostly contemporary films shown at ethnographic film festivals. It includes otherwise hard-to-find visual anthropology films that build on the work of Ruth Benedict, Margaret Mead, and Tim Asch.
