MENTORING PROGRAMME WITH JAN PINKAVA

From December 11 to 12, the Czech-British-American director Jan Pinkava will be conducting a mentoring programme at FAMU. You will have the opportunity to get to know the personality and work of this significant world creator of Czech origin, who has received numerous awards for his work. Pinkava is primarily known for his 3D animated films, having worked for Pixar. Together with Brad Bird, he co-directed the film Ratatouille (2007), and for the film Geri's Game (1998), he won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film. He currently leads the Animationsinstitut at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

Schedule:

10:10 - Opening of the hall

10:30 – 12:30 - Film screenings with an introduction by the lecturer, block of student films from the Animationsinstitut at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, and block SHORTS by Jan Pinkava – selected Pixar studio commercials, Geri's GameHeartstring

14:00 – 17:00 - Special lecture by the lecturer titled Agency and Storytelling in Animation: What happens when the audience makes choices for FAMU students and faculty. A discussion will follow the lecture. Moderated by Michaela Pavlátová. The programme will be conducted in English without interpretation.

The second part of the programme will take place on December 12 and is intended for students of the master's programme at the Department of Animated Film. Content: individual consultations.
