Updated for 2025/2026 Erasmus+ exchange conditions valid from 1.6.2025.

Internal applications will be opened again with the start of the new academic year (Deadline for submitting internal applications: 31.1.2026)

FAMU has already concluded more than 50 agreements with partner schools within the framework of the Erasmus+ program and other bilateral agreements with partner schools, mainly from non-European countries, as part of its international cooperation.

On this page you will find basic information about the conditions of the Erasmus+ program for students, information about the amount of financial contribution and other forms of support. For specific information regarding the type of internship you are interested in, please visit the relevant subpage.

The Erasmus+ program at FAMU is governed by the Rector's Decree No. 03/2024 on the institutional provision of the Erasmus+ program at AMU and the recognition of studies within the framework of foreign student mobilities.

INFO

Czech National Agency for International Cooperation and Research has renewed the source of students' experiences from their study stays and practical internships and made available the database of Erasmus students' final reports.

BASIC CONDITIONS

  • The participant must be a full-time student – it is possible to travel as part of a waiting for final exams, or extended year.
    • It is not possible to travel as part of interrupted study.
    • Exchange must end (and be administratively finalised) no later than the day before final exam (SZZK).
  • Each participant can use up to maximum of 12 months in each study cycle of higher education (bachelor, master, doctoral).
    • A student can complete one long stay or several shorter ones (but the minimum prescribed length of stay of 2-3 months must be observed).
    • It is important to remember that all study, practical and short-term internships in a given degree add up. This also applies to all previous studies in a given study cycle.
  • A student must obtain at least 18 credits per semester during long-term study mobility at a foreign institution.
  • In the case of traineeships, there is no credit obligation; the student may have the traineeship recognized as equivalent to a mandatory work placement if their study program includes it, or as optional credits. Traineeship may also be enrolled as a supplement to the diploma without credit evaluation.
  • Mobility cannot be carried out in the country where the sending higher education institution is located (Czech Republic), nor with EU institutions and other EU entities, including specialized organizations that manage EU programs.
  • Within the Erasmus+ program in the 2021-2027 programming period, it is possible to complete an exchange outside the EU.
    • However, the funding capacity for non-European mobility is limited by the allocated budget for a given academic year, so be prepared that your exchange may be rejected even if you have been succesful with your application. Therefore, when choosing schools, we strongly advise against choosing more than one institution outside the EU.

In view of the large increase in applications for Erasmus internships and the effort to meet the maximum number of applications, we are forced to take the following faculty measures in funding exchanges until further notice:

  • study exchange – financed up to one semester
  • traineeship – financed up to three months
  • Priority is given to MA students, final year students and students who have not yet completed a long-term Erasmus+ exchange
  • Students who were not financially supported based on the above criteria can go on with exchange despite these measures, but only as so-called zero-grant participants (without a financial contribution from the EU). However, all rights and obligations related to an Erasmus+ internship continue to apply to them.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

The EU defines the basic rules for determining the amount of financial contributions. The contribution is understood as funding covering the increased cost of living abroad, it is not a scholarship covering all the costs of the stay abroad and the student's financial participation is assumed. The amount of the monthly contribution is fixed - countries are divided into groups depending on the cost of living (higher, lower), the range in which the amount of the contribution allocated for a stay in a particular country will vary depends on the relationship between the sending and receiving countries (whether it is mobility between countries with comparable cost of living or not).

Based on the conclusion of the participation contract, the student receives a contribution that is the same for all students leaving the Czech Republic for a study stay or practical internship within the Erasmus+ program.

Study and practical mobility (2-12 months) – contribution to living costs:

  • EU Group 1 – 660 EUR / month + additional 150 EUR / month for traineeship
    • Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Sweden + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, United Kingdom, Switzerland
  • EU Group 2 – 600 EUR / month + increase of 150 EUR / month for traineeship
    • Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain
  • EU Group 3 – 540 EUR / month + increase of 150 EUR / month for traineeship
    • Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania + Serbia, North Macedonia, Turkey
  • Non-EU countries – 700 EUR / month with no increase for traineeship
    • not valid for UK and Switzerland

The financial contribution can be further increased through INCLUSION support.

As of 1 January 2024, the Erasmus financial contribution will be paid only in EUR. Students are required to open an account in this currency.

Contribution to travel costs:

"distance: allowance for environmentally unfriendly travel (Green Erasmus - alternative allowance for environmentally friendly travel)" – the distance is calculated by the EC calculator.

  • 10 - 99 km: EUR 28 (EUR 56)
  • 100 - 499 km: EUR 211 (EUR 285)
  • 500 - 1 999 km: EUR 309 (EUR 417)
  • 2 000 - 2 999 km: EUR 395 (EUR 535)
  • 3 000 - 3 999 km: EUR 580 (EUR 785)
  • 4 000 - 7 999 km: EUR 1188
  • 8 000 km or more: EUR 1735

  • Up to 500 km, the participant will travel as a "Green Erasmus."
  • To receive the Green Erasmus financial support, it is necessary to fill out an affidavit that the journey there and back will be made in an environmentally friendly way (airplane and boat travel are excluded) and provide travel documents.
  • Participants can receive 2-6 funded days for travel (subsistence costs).
  • If the financial contribution does not cover 70% of the travel costs, it is possible to apply for a contribution for exceptionally high travel costs.

OTHER FORMS OF SUPPORT

Most mobility takes place in countries where English is not spoken. Similarly, teaching may take place in the local language and partner institutions often require students to provide proof of language skills. The European Commission has made the EU Academy tool available to students, which is intended (and not only) to improve the language skills of mobility participants. Those interested in using this program in more depth can contact the AMU Coordinator Martina Zárubová (martina.zarubova@amu.cz).

INFO

AMU Language Preparation Center (CJP) organizes an optional English language exam (B2) for interested parties, designed especially for students going on a study / work exchange within the Erasmus+ program.

Recently, there has also been an increasing number of students canceling their planned Erasmus exchanges just before departure. Often, this is due to concerns about an unfamiliar environment or cultural differences, or because they are unsure about financial planning. Erasmus coordinators from CTU, UPOL and Vilnius Tech created the COSTABEX portal with the aim of "providing support to students going abroad and ensuring that student mobility is as positive and beneficial as possible, further raising awareness of the need to work with mental health and discuss possible psychological problems of outgoing students". The Costabex website offers (freely available) presentations, videos and other training materials focused on, for example, preparing for mobility, managing personal finances (not only) during a stay abroad, intercultural communication/culture shock, dealing with stress, mental health, crisis communication, etc.
