TO APPLY, THE PROSPECTIVE STUDENT NEEDS TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS AND WORKS:

Please note that all documents should be named according to this pattern “Your_full_name_APP_2019_number of assignment” 
(e. g. “Angelina_Jolie_APP_2019_1” or “Angelina_Jolie_APP_2019_4a) and then uploaded. For the login and password please contact app@famu.cz

Uploading all requirements stated in articles 1 – 7 according to the instructions to be seen here.

1. APPLICATION FORM 
Download the application form, complete the form on computer, sign it, scan it, name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_1”, upload it and also send it as a hard copy. Applications are available at the bottom of the page. 
The admission to each concentration is equally competitive. Please choose your concentration based on your preference.

2. CV 
Brief description of the applicant’s academic and artistic records. Please also state level of English you speak. Name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_2” and upload it.

3. ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS 
From all previously attended institutions. (Secondary school transcripts are not necessary for those with higher levels of education.) Name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_3” and upload it.

4. ARTISTIC SAMPLE 
Please submit the following: 
For Screenwriting: 
a. 10 to 15 page script sample (It could be a part of a longer script.) 
b. synopsis for a full length feature film of up to 3 pages 
c. a list of 10 films from any period and style of film history that you consider important for your personal inspiration to date

For Directing Fiction: 
a. short film which you have directed 
b. a 3 to 5 page treatment for a short fiction 
c. a list of 10 films from any period and style of film history that you consider important for your personal inspiration to date

For Directing Documentary and Non-fiction: 
a. statement of your plans for the year (for instance, I have shot material I want to explore and develop into a documentary, or I will work on an experimental film as an individual artist, etc.) 
b. a film sample 
c. written explanation of your participation on the submitted film (up to 2 pages), and other material, which supports your ability to carry out your plans 
d. a list of 10 films from any period and style of film history that you consider important for your personal inspiration to date 

For Cinematography concentration: 
a. a short film on which you have worked as cinematographer 
b. written explanation of your participation on the submitted project (up to 2 pages) 
c. a portfolio of 10-15 thematically related photos – either as a storyboard or photos which reveal one situation/event. (Presentation in .jpg not exceeding 2000px in length, each photo has its number to show the ascending order.) 
d. a list of 10 films from any period and style of film history that you consider important for your personal inspiration to date

For Editing and Creative Post-production 
a. a series of 12 photographs representing a storyboard – that is, a narrated action (documentary or acted) from the beginning to the end, understandable without any other explanation, except for the title. (Presentation in .jpg not exceeding 2000px in length, each photo has its number to show the ascending order.) 
b. a short film on which you have worked as editor 
c. a list of digital software (non-linear editing, special effects, sound design) you are familiar with and the level of your knowledge (software competence not required, this is just for information) 
d. a list of 10 films from any period and style of film history that you consider important for your personal inspiration to date

For Photography 
a. collection(s) of photographs of your choice which represents your skills and creative talent the best. (Presentation in .jpg not exceeding 2000px in length, each photo has its number to show the ascending order.) The minimum number of photographs is 20 and the maximum is 40. Try to present independent photo series to prove your ability to compose collections of images. 
b. a list of 10 photographers of any genre you consider the most influential (with a short explanation, please) 
c. the project – a brief, written idea about the courses you would like to take as well as photographic work you would like to dedicate yourself

For Animated Film: 
a. an analysis of any animated film (1 – 2 pages) 
b. an original theme for own animated film (1 text page), it is possible but not necessary to submit a visual idea for the animated film (1 page) 
c. own artwork (20 items) in .png format 1500px minimum

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY: 
All audiovisual artistic samples must be uploaded on either Vimeo or Youtube in HD and the files have to be downloadable. Please make a .doc with the links of your audiovisual works and name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_4_title_of_the_piece” and upload it as previous files. 
All texts must be uploaded and named “Your_full_name_APP_2019_4” 
All images must be uploaded as .zip and named “Your_full_name_APP_2019_4_IMAGES"

5. STATEMENT OF INTENT: 
A short personal essay on what the applicant expects from her/his studies as well as what the applicant believes she or he can contribute to the creative and intellectual environment of FAMU, and the reasons she or he would like to come and study in Prague. 
Name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_5” and upload it.

6. SELF-PORTRAIT 
One minute video self-portrait. Upload on either Vimeo or Youtube in HD (it has to be downloadable), please make a .doc with the link of your self-portrait and name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_6” and upload it as previous files.

7. APPLICATION FEE: 
A scanned certificate of having deposited the application fee of EUR 50 (or CZK equivalent) in the account number provided below must be submitted with every application. Name it “Your_full_name_APP_2019_7” and upload it.

The deposit must be EUR 50 exactly, regardless of other banking or transfer fees.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

Eligibility: Minimum 18 years of age, with completed secondary school education, BA in any field recommended.

Terms of Academic Year 2019/2020: 
Fall semester: September 16, 2019 – December 20, 2019 
Spring semester: February 10, 2020 – May 30, 2020

Accommodation, Health Insurance and Visa: 
Not provided by FAMU. These are the responsibility of the student. FAMU provides accepted students with an Acceptance letter which serves as one of the required visa application documents.

Editing and Creative postproduction

Photography 
252,000 CZK including 21% VAT (approx. EUR 9,920)

Animated Film 
323,000 CZK including 21% VAT (approx. EUR 12,720)

The production of major Workshop Projects is covered by the tuition fee paid for the program.

IMPORTANT PAYMENT NOTICE: 
Please note that if you would like to pay in two installments – for each semester separately, a surcharge of EUR 80 including VAT applies to the fee for each semester.

Terms of payment and refund: 
Students may not enroll unless the fees for the coming term are paid in full or the Office has received written confirmation that grants or loans are forthcoming. Fees should be paid through bank transfer.
