David Čeněk graduated from the Film Studies Department of Charles University’s Faculty of Arts and works there as an assistant professor. He is also a FAMU educator, teaching at the Department of Documentary Film (History of Documentary Film, Pedagogical Practice, and Field Didactics). He serves as the Vice-Dean of FAMU for International Relations. He has written and co-written multiple books including on Chris Marker, Robert Bresson, Alain Resnais and J.-L. Godard. As a film historian, he focuses on the history of French, Latin American, and African cinema, and collaborates with several domestic film festivals as a dramaturge.
