Iva Baslarová is an assistant professor at the Department of Gender Studies of the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno in media studies, journalism, and sociology. She worked as the editor-in-chief of the Filmové listy newsletter published during the of the Summer Film School festival in Uherské Hradiště and her articles have been published in Cinepur, Alarm and Heroine. She has also worked as the editor of the Kinobox web portal. In her research, teaching, and publication activities, she specialises in the media and gender, gender socialisation, and TV shows (mainly ‘female’ genres such as soap operas).
