Jakub Jiřiště has been teaching at FAMU since 2024. He specializes in the history of Czech cinema in a wide range of contexts. He has contributed to numerous research projects and edited volumes focusing on the production history of Czech films (Closely Watched Trains, Back to Czech Film, Journey to the Beginning of Time). He is currently building on a Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) project examining the development of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival from both institutional and transnational perspectives, within which he conducts archival research and oral history work.

As a co-founder and member of the creative team behind the NaFilM film museum, he is engaged in curatorial practice related to the presentation of film heritage, as well as in modern trends in film education. He also participates in research and creative projects carried out within European cooperation frameworks (Erasmus+ cooperative partnerships, Creative Europe), focusing on innovative, experience-based approaches to communicating film heritage, including the use of new technologies. He organizes the Industry program for non-formal and audiovisual education at the Summer Film School, is a member of the Czech Film and Television Academy, works long-term with Czech Television as a dramaturge of archival programs, and serves as an expert advisor to the programming department of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
