Dear friend:
Re: Call for Submissions for students working in film and video
With the return of autumn and school comes the annual call for submissions
for the Images Festival's S is for Student program, our annual survey of
international student film and video presented in a cinema context.
Established in 1987, the Images Festival is the longest running and most
influential integrated media arts festival in Canada, dedicated to the
moving image in all its forms. Please visit our website for a full archive
of the student films and videos that we have previously screened.
As always, Images seeks to present a selection of student projects that
reflects the breadth of moving image modes that are being deployed by the
students at the forefront of contemporary film and video. Not only is the S
is for Student a platform for student artists, it is also serves as a
launch pad for emerging student curators, with a special jury of students
and recent graduates selecting and contextualizing the work by their peers.
This is an excellent opportunity for students in all stages of their
practice to screen their work in a supportive, professional context with
internationally renowned festival exposure.
On behalf of the festival, I would be delighted to answer any questions
about this process and encourage you to contact me. Please forward this
call to all your students and faculty colleagues, as well as colleagues at
other educational institutions internationally - the application form is
available online at
