The 5th International Student Triennial Exhibition Participation Requirements
1. The Triennial is organised for the purpose of bringing together university level art and design schools and institutions.
2. Works of art and design by undergraduate and graduate students from invited schools will be exhibited at the Triennial.
3. Invited schools are responsible for the selection of the students whose work of art will be exhibited. There are no subject specifications or limitations for the exhibition.
4. Taking into consideration the transportation and installation process, the works of art to be chosen must be reasonable in dimension, durable, easily movable and easily set up.
5. Each School or Institution will send 5 participants (at least three of them must be student).
6. Only accomodation for students is provided during the stay. Transportation, food, insurance and other expenses will be the responsibility of the participants or their Institutions.
7. Marmara University will assist in transportation of the art and design works sent for exhibition after their declaration through Istanbul Atatürk Airport Customs Office. The Art works sent without any companion must be sent directly by a private cargo agency to the Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts to Prof. Nazan Erkmen. A sticker stating that works are only for ‘temporary exhibition’ and ‘not for sale’ should be placed on the packages of works to avoid problems in customs. At least one person responsible from each school must be present during the set up of works.
8. The Triennial officials will have the final say as to the organization and placement of the works in the Gallery. Selected works will be exhibited in their assigned sections. Every school will be alloted
30-50 m2 of exhibition space. Additional requests regarding the manner of displaying the works must be noted during the application process. These will be provided as circumstances allow.
9. All the works in the exhibition will be collected in a catalogue. Each catalogue entry will include information about the artists and the institutions. It is important that the visual materials sent during the application match the works sent to be exhibited.

Symposium Participation Requirements
1. A Symposium will be held during the Triennial. Symposium is open to all the national and international education institutes.
2. The general theme of the symposium is "East of West-West of East, New Approaches in Art and Design".
Subtitles are;
· What are the recent trends in today’s art and design education?
· What differences can be found in art and design education in the West and the East?
· What are the reflections of East-West interaction in art and design?
· In a global culture, what are the social, economic and cultural contributions of artists and designers in the West and the East?
· How has globalism effected artists and designers in the East and the West?
· What are the differences in the use of new technologies by artists and designers in the West and the East?
3. Presentations are limited to 20 minutes each.
4. Presentations will be delivered either in English or Turkish. Simultaneous translation will be provided in these two languages.
5. Papers that can not fit in the given time limit or can not be included in the programme, may be reproduced and distrubuted to the audience on the charge of the author.
6. Titles and abstracts (maksimum 250 words) must be submitted to
symposium-gsf@marmara.edu.tr mail address no later than March 15th, 2010.
7. Participiants are advised to state their requirements, if any, for equipment such as slide projector,
overhead projector, screen, video player, etc.
8. Those whose papers are accepted should send their full papers by 15th April 2010.
9. Those who are going to deliver their papers in Turkish should hand in the abstracts and full papers in English as well.
10. The abstracts will be assessed by a selection committee.
11. After the examination of the paper abstracts, some speakers may be asked to submit poster presentations.
12. The symposium papers will be compiled in a book.
The 5th International Student Triennial Film Screening
Student short film screening will be held during the triennial. Each school or institution,
representing their student's works, will be limited to 20 minutes. Further information can be
found in the Triennial Participation Form.
IMPORTANT NOTES
* Participants should fill in all the necessary forms completely and abide by the deadlines.
* In order to avoid errors, text should also be sent both fax or email. To avoid delays in the post, it
is recommended not to wait until the deadlines.
* Within 7 days following the closing date of the exhibition, all works must be removed
from the Faculty premises. After the end of this period, Marmara University, Faculty of Fine
Arts can not be held responsible for damage or loss, or to return of the art works.
* Return of works: Please tick one of the options below;

…… MUGSF shall send the works back at the owners' expense
*The fee for participations is 500 US Dollars/350 Euro/650 TL for each Institution. The amount must be deposited to the accounts given below no later than March 15th, 2010. Please note “The 5th International Student Triennial” during the payment.
