FESTIVAL DATES: October 7 – 11, 2009

shnit-Open 2009 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Submission deadline: 1st of July 2009

Entry fee: no fee

Requirements :

1) Films completed after : 2006

2) Maximum running time : 15 minutes (excluding credits)

3) Country of production : all

4) Screening formats : HD, Beta SP, Digital BetaCam, DVCam, MiniDV, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, Beta SX, DVC Pro (preferably standard PAL for all formats)

5) Genres accepted : all genres accepted

6) if the dialogue language is not German or English the film must be subtitled into one of these languages.

The following prizes will be awarded in the international competition shnit-Open 2009:

SMART JOE short films under 4 minutes, CHF 13’000

MAGIC JACK short film from 4 to 10 minutes, CHF 10’000

LONG JOHN short film over 10 minutes, CHF 7’000

Additionally a Public Choice Award, a Swiss Award and a German Award will be given away:

PUBLIC CHOICE AWARD all films, CHF 5’000

SWISS AWARD Swiss films only, CHF 5’000

GERMAN AWARD German films only, CHF 5’000

Note: There is no single application for the German and Swiss competition since all the films will be chosen from the submitted films to the international competition shnit-Open 2009.
