I would like to introduce myself as the CEO and Director of Roopkala Kendro, a

Film and Social Communication Institute which is a Registered Society under the

Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal, India.

Roopkala Kendro imparts professional training in Development Communication,

Direction, Motion Picture Photography, Editing, Sound Design and Animation

Creation and Direction. We also produce films for the socially disadvantaged and

As part of its annual activities every year this Institute organizes an International Social Communication Cinema Conference for the last eight years to

highlight the issues of existence/survival of common people, violence against vulnerable groups like women and children, human rights, education, environment

etc. You are already aware that our Cinema Conference is purely non-commercial and non-competitive. 

We would be glad to invite films on different social issues in our forthcoming 9th Cinema Conference, to be held in the month of 15th -21st February'10 at

Nandan, Kolkata, India. If possible, it will be better for us if we get those films in CD/DVD format for preview and final selection.  

Please note that we always prefer to screen the films in DVD/CD/35mm format with English Subtitles.

Therefore I would like to request you to kindly suggest some of the films (feature/short/doc) made in 2008 and 2009 for our festival and send the DVDs for

our preview and selection to the following address.  Hope you will be kind enough to answer this mail at your earliest and extend
