Applicants submit a collection of 8-12 black-and-white or color photographs of maximum 50x60 cm format.

The style of the collection has to be uniform and distinct. The collection is to be approached as a core of the author’s exhibition representing the peak of his or her own creative work in that area of photography which he or she focuses on.

Part B: Genre Specific Collection

Maximum 20 photographs in maximum 50x60 cm format in one of the following genres: portrait, nude, landscape, urban-landscape, still life, and documentary. In special cases triptychs or diptychs are allowed.

Selected theme has to differ from the one of the photographs submitted in parts A or C.

Part C: Publication

Within the scope of Part C, the following is to be submitted:

Applicants may present only one collection of photographs per Part.

The Admission procedure for Czech-language applicants and English-language applicants is held separately.

Submission of the work

Evaluation of the works submitted in the first round is anonymous. Therefore it is necessary to mark the works correctly. The applicants, within their own interest, must adhere to the following procedure. The work is to be submitted in four separate envelopes, marked as follows:

- number code of your electronic application form;

- letter A, B, C, or D according to the relevant Part of the applicants’ work, as described above.

Example: if the number code generated by the electronic application is 1839, the envelopes and individual photographs will be marked as follows:

·         1839 A (exhibition collection);

·         1839 B (genre specific collection – portrait, nude, landscape, urban-landscape, still life, documentary);

·         1839 C (illustration of a book of poetry or fiction, picture publication);

·         1839 D (technical photograph of still-life).

Furthermore, all the photographs in the envelope have to be marked with the same code as the envelope itself. Photographs can be also marked at their backside with their name and a sequence of the photograph in the series. At the same time, the number code will be on a fifth, separate sealed envelope where the applicant inserts a sheet of paper with his/her number code, name, address, telephone number and possibly also his/her e-mail address.

Method of Evaluation

All the works submitted will be evaluated by a Commission consisting of at least 5 teachers of the Department of Photography.
